This Riesling has pale straw colour. Spectacular aromas of apricot compote, apple blossom, blitz torte, granny smith apple, and a kiss of Meyer lemon. The expansive nose carries onto the lightweight palate that is concentrated and balanced. There is a beautiful tension and chalky minerality that is derived from this esteemed site. This wine has an enviable length and age worthy cellar potential.
This Riesling is sourced from 27 year old vines off the Foxcroft vineyard, located in the twenty mile bench sub appellation. About 5 km away from Lake Ontario, the property consists of steep, stony silty and dolomitic limestone. Fruit was hand harvested, gently pressed, then cold-settled for 48 hours before being racked off its lees. The cool, long fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks allowing us to capture the varietal aromas and the pure expression of the twenty-mile bench. Once fermentation finished, the wine was racked off its ferment lees and stabilized, before filtering and bottling.
