Gewürztraminer

This Germanic variety might be slightly difficult for people to say or spell, but it is delicious on the palate, has an unforgettable aroma profile and one of the deepest colours of any white wine. Often referred to simply as “Gew”.

The skin of the grape, like Pinot Gris, is pink, rather than pale green, so the pigmentation remains in the wine giving it that deep golden, sometimes coppery colour. Gewürztraminer is known for its intense fragrance and is characterized by its lychee aroma. It also has pungent floral aromatics of rose petal, along with typical flavours of honey and spice. It is usually medium to light in acidity and high in sugars. Due to its natural sweetness is also commonly used for dessert wines.
