Head Winemaker, David Stasiuk
Starting his professional career in the food and beverage industry, David Stasiuk has always had a love and appreciation for food, wine and the people who create it all.
Although hospitality was at the forefront of his career, David soon heard his calling and decided to pursue studies in winegrowing. In 2009, David graduated with Honors in Winery & Viticulture at Niagara College. During his study, he apprenticed at Le Clos Jordanne, crafting premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Shortly after he ventured west to the Okanagan Valley, where at Sumac Ridge, he made both sparkling and still wines. Immediately following, David’s desire to work abroad landed him in Australia, in the beautiful cool-climate of the Yarra Valley. There, he gained extensive knowledge at the Moet-Chandon winery. With no time to waste, he worked back-to-back vintages, the latter being in Marlborough, New Zealand, at Villa Maria Estate. David then returned to the Okanagan for the 2010 harvest at Cedar Creek.
In December of 2010, David joined Rockway as Head Winemaker. A quick chat with David about the vineyards or his latest release will surely exude his passion and dedication for crafting premium VQA wines. David is a proud husband and father of two boys (three if you include his dog, Guinness!). If David had to tell you his favourite wine, he would be sure to say, “I drink what I like, what I think tastes good, that is all that matters. There really is a wine for everyone!”
