2017 Plush Red

After a winter that seemed to never end, spring carried on the cool temperatures right through until may, giving bud-break a later start than normal. Cooler temperatures and above average precipitation persisted through the early summer months delaying fruit maturity by several weeks. August brought warmer seasonal temperatures that held right into October. Although faced with a reduced crop from the harsh winter and a challenging growing season, as always, the vines found their balance and grape maturity commenced with the first harvest here on October 9th. The whites are showing concentrated flavours with bright tangy acids. The reds show classic cool climate character with soft plush tannins and a balance of berry fruit and savoury spice

Tasting Notes

Colour is deep ruby. Aromas of cherry, dark chocolate and mocha, with hints of strawberry, vanilla and barrel spice. The palette is soft and round with a sweet fruit core. Flavours of red berry fruit persist with subtle hints of tobacco and leather. Medium+ finish.

Rockway 2017 Plush Red has proudly won the following awards:

  • Silver Medal: 2018 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition

2017 Plush White

The grapes were kissed by the sun and the wines, infused with the passion of our
people. A fun yet sophisticated wine that awakens the senses with ripe fresh fruit and
mouth watering acidity. A great sipper and very versatile with food.

Tasting Notes

Up front aromas of honey, lemon-lime, peach and melon. Hints of perfume and wild flowers lie beneath. The palette is off dry, with notes of citrus and confectionary fruit. Vibrant acidity balances the residual sugar and keeps the palette cleansed. A ‘more please’ finish.

Winemaking Notes

The fruit was harvested, de-stemmed and pressed off of its skins. The juice was cold settled and racked off coarse lees. Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel tanks under temperature control to promote bright fruit aromas.

Food Pairing

Try with blackened Cajun scallops or curried mussels
