What began as a meeting of the minds in 1997 between Canada’s only member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Carl Kovacs, the Foundation first established its roots by running a golf tournament in support of the Canadian Red Cross.
Supporting more than 500 charities in Canada and the United States, the Foundation raises money for these organizations under the mandate of “Serving Humanitarian Need Through the Love of Sport.'

2016 Vintage Notes
From the start of 2016, the winter and spring brought below normal precipitation. This persisted throughout spring and summer months defining the growing season with drought conditions. Young vines were hand watered almost daily to ensure their survival. Luckily the mature vines are deep-rooted and were able to get by with the soil moisture located deeper in the soil horizon. Hot and dry conditions persisted late into the growing season when sporadic rainfall events began to appear, keeping the drought concerns at bay. When under stress, the vines focus energy on the fruit and with the help of later season rain, an already stellar looking crop sized up well and delivered superb quality. Harvests were ripe, clean and are promising to deliver cool-climate wines with power and finesse from a ‘not-so-cool’ vintage.
Colour is pale straw. Aromas of citrus and pear fruit, wildflower, and wet river rock. The palate is soft and juicy with racy acid to balance the residual sugar. Flavours of watermelon, honey and baked peach are layered in the mix. The wine has a slightly chalky feel on the finish keeping it tight and almost restrained. Long lingering finish.
The fruit was harvested and pressed off its skins immediately. Juice was cold settled and racked off of solids for fermentation. The juice was fermented in smaller batches, using different yeasts to promote complexity of flavours when blending. The fermentations were stopped when the desired balance of acid and residual sugar was observed.
